High School Principal's Corner

High School Principal, Brett T. Hill

Brett Hill

Hello fellow Moss Pirates and Lady Pirates! My name is Brett Hill and I am the new High School Principal! I am honored and humbled to have been chosen for this position. I have been in education for 12 years now and my experiences have been vast and cover a wide breadth of subjects and areas. My first and only teaching position was at Byng High School where I taught Sophomores and was the Student Council Advisor for 4 years. After that, I became the Senior English & AP Lit & Comp teacher along with serving as the National Honor Society Advisor and Byng's AP English Vertical Team Leader. After three years in those roles, I took my first school administration position at Freedom Public Schools. For the past 4 years, I have served Freedom as the PreK - 12th Grade Principal, Athletic Director, Junior High Football Coach and Golf Coach.

I am originally from Konawa, Oklahoma and attended East Central University where I earned my Bachelor's (English Teacehr Certification) and Master's Degrees (Secondary School Principal). I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Stevy, for 14 years this summer. We have three children, Jaxon (13), Cade (10) and Sophie (5) who are all excited to be Moss Pirates! We have 2 dogs and 2 cats and our kiddos will be active participants at Moss, whether it be on the baseball diamond, in the basketball gym, in the classroom / academics, 4-H and FFA, we will all be there as a family working to make Moss better and better every time we compete.

To give everyone some insight into my way of thinking when it comes to school, always know that I am an advocate for children. That is why I chose education as my profession. I believe in kids and I believe in helping kids become the best they can possibly be so that they may have the tools available to them to make a difference in the world. I want your children to walk out on graduation night knowing that they are prepared for what awaits them whether that be a college / university, trade school, vo-tech or the workforce. Always, always know that the decisions that I make may not always be the ones that you totally agree with; they may not be the ones that are the most "popular" at the time; they may not be the ones that are the "flashiest"; but know that all of the decisions will ALWAYS be grounded in the belief that we do what's best for kids, each and every day, no matter what.

That is a little about me, but please feel free to come by the office and chat with me about anything school related any time. I would ask that you call ahead just to make sure that I will be available when you come (...I hate to miss people when they come by to visit...). Part of my philosophy as a Principal is that I be as visible as I can be during school hours. You will see me up and down the hallways, in teacher's classrooms, monitoring the comings and goings of the school.

Right now, as you can see, we are going through a web site change. We are now members of the Oklahoma Public Schools Resource Center and they are helping us with our new web site. Please feel free to browse around and see as much of the site as you can. It is a working project, so check back often as we will be updating the page with teacher records and files, student life photos, sports and academic pages for classes and students, lunch menus and much, much more. Also, be sure to check us out on Social Media and follow your child's teachers if they have created pages / groups for their particular classes, and don't forget to join the Moss PTO page on Facebook to keep up with the great things they do for our kids and staff and to help out as you can!

I want to say a heartfelt Thank You to the Board of Education for selecting me and extend a hand in invitation to anyone that would like to come by, visit and see what great things we have going on at Moss Junior / High School!
